Privacy Policy

My Summer Challenge · mysummerchallenge.com

Last Updated: May 2026

My Summer Challenge is a program for children. We take the privacy of minors and their families very seriously. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verified parental consent. Parents and guardians create and manage all accounts.

1. Who We Are

My Summer Challenge ("we," "us," or "our") is a program based in Washington State, USA. We offer a gamified summer activity and personal development program for children ages 10–15, accessible at mysummerchallenge.com.

If you have questions about this policy, please contact us using the information at the bottom of this page.

2. Information We Collect

From Parents and Guardians

  • Name and email address (required to create an account and receive program updates)
  • Payment information — processed securely by Stripe; we never store your credit card number
  • Number of children in your household (used only to apply the correct pricing tier)
  • How you heard about us (optional, used to understand our marketing reach)

From Children (via Parent Accounts)

  • A first name or nickname used to display on the child's activity log and badge progress
  • Activity entries and point log (the activities your child records in the program)
  • Progress data: points earned, milestones reached, themes completed

Automatically Collected

  • Standard server logs: IP address, browser type, pages visited, date/time of visits
  • Cookies (see Section 6)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your family's account
  • Deliver the program: unlock weekly themes, track points, display milestones
  • Send your early bird promo code and launch notification (if you've joined the waitlist)
  • Send program-related updates, tips, and occasional announcements — you can unsubscribe anytime
  • Process payments securely through Stripe
  • Improve the website and program experience based on aggregate usage patterns

We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell or rent your information to any third party. Ever.

4. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

My Summer Challenge complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.

All accounts are created and managed by parents or guardians aged 18 or older. Children participate in the program through their parent's account. The only child-specific data we store is: a display name (chosen by the parent), activity log entries, and point/milestone progress — all tied to the parent's account, not a separate child account.

If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13 without proper parental consent, please contact us immediately and we will delete that information promptly.

Parents may request to review, correct, or delete any information associated with their child at any time by contacting us directly.

5. Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Stripe — payment processing. Stripe's privacy policy governs how they handle your payment data: stripe.com/privacy
  • Brevo (Sendinblue) — email delivery for account confirmations, promo codes, and program updates. Email addresses are stored in Brevo to deliver these messages.
  • WordPress/Hostinger — our website hosting platform. Standard hosting data (server logs, etc.) is governed by Hostinger's privacy policy.
  • Legal requirements — we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public.

6. Cookies and Tracking

We use a small number of cookies to make the website function properly and improve your experience:

  • Session cookies — keep you logged in during your visit
  • Preference cookies — remember your cookie consent choice and display preferences
  • Analytics cookies — we may use basic analytics (such as site visit counts) to understand how the site is used in aggregate. No personally identifiable information is included in these reports.

We do not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking pixels, or social media tracking widgets. We do not run ads on this website.

You can decline non-essential cookies using the cookie banner when you first visit, or by adjusting your browser settings at any time.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Waitlist-only signups (no paid plan) are retained for up to 12 months unless you unsubscribe earlier.

You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time. We will process deletion requests within 30 days. Some information may be retained for a limited period where required by law (e.g., payment records).

8. Your Rights

Regardless of where you are located, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you and your child
  • Correct inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and data
  • Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time (every email includes an unsubscribe link)
  • Object to or restrict certain processing of your data

If you are located in California, you have additional rights under the CCPA. If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have rights under the GDPR. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the information below.

9. Security

We take the security of your information seriously. Our website uses HTTPS encryption. Payments are handled entirely by Stripe and are never transmitted through or stored on our servers. We use industry-standard practices to protect stored data.

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. If you have concerns about the security of your account, please contact us immediately.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. If we make material changes that affect how we handle children's data, we will notify registered parents by email before those changes take effect.

Continued use of My Summer Challenge after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
